Applying for Camp Counsellor Positions

A few things to keep in mind

Working as a camp counsellor in the summer can be a lot of fun however the position also demands a lot of responsibility. You will be entrusted to help oversee the safety, happiness and developmental progress of the children attending camp. Training will be provided but it is very important that our counsellors keep a near perfect attendance record and a happy, positive attitude.

About Being a Crave Counsellor

Last summer, our group of counsellors were a wonderful team of young adults ranging in age from 13 to 15 years old.

One example of why our team was so successful last summer was Gabby. Gabby was a counsellor that had recently attended a community seminar for CPR and had some experience with child supervision being the oldest of 4 kids who is often tasked with caring for one or two of her siblings after school until her parents arrive home from work.

It was discovered early on that one of Gabby's strengths is the art of redirecting a child's focus during moments of frustration or disappointment. She will often find ways to turn an upset child into a helper which almost immediately dries up any tears and builds a sense of belonging and security.

Gabby left such a positive impression of some campers that it wasn't out of the ordinary to spot a couple of teary good-byes on fridays.
So, "what am I signing up for?" you may be asking yourself. Well, a typical may be loosely look something like this.

There are many benefits to being a camp counsellor but the one you will feel most immediately is how important you are to the kids attending your camp.

Beyond this, you will also find that by adopting a supervisory role at such a young age, it will benefit you professionally in the future.

Please note that spots are very limited due to the size of our camp and returning counsellors. We appreciate all resumes from those that apply but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
